Phantom Blade Zero is not a game where every chest matters. The ones that count are the 16 green-glowing Lost Treasures tied to Quick Hand Zhang’s request and the Lost and Found trophy. Everything else in a chest is ordinary upgrade material, and the individual contents of those normal chests are not mapped in the verified sources. This page separates the two, lists the 16 treasures by region, and then covers the six hidden areas that hold the true-ending and trophy-critical loot.
The 16 Lost Treasures by region
| Region | Count | Lost Treasures | Gate / prerequisite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crimson Forest | 3 | Bloodstained Seal, Sect Leader’s Snuff Bottle, Ancient Crossbow | Reach Crimson Forest and free Quick Hand Zhang at the bridge to start the request. |
| Village of Lu | 3 | Wedding Candles, White Jade Twins, Unveiled Statue | Village of Lu access. Some sit off the ribbon route; sweep before the Pangzhen transition. |
| Pangzhen | 4 | Jade Brush Rest, Tiger Paperweight, Ink Stick, Carved-Edge Inkstone | Pangzhen access; several are away from the main streets. Sweep before the Green Serpent House door. |
| Meigu Lake | 3 | Blight Astrolabe, Sundial of Impermanence, Blue Blossom Compass | Sha-Chi Powered Boat and the East Dock/island route. Sweep before Mirage. |
| Mirage Estate | 3 | General’s Bronze Mirror, Gold-and-Silver Sachet, Golden Cloud-Moon Hairpin | Green Serpent House door. These are the last three and sit inside Mirage Estate. |
Turn-in rewards: completing all 16 gives the Flying Dagger, Goldblaze, and the Lost and Found trophy. The deadline is The Last Chance on Mount Soulrend. The last three treasures are in Mirage Estate, so the set cannot be closed before you cross the Green Serpent door.
What the sources do and do not give
The regional split — Crimson 3, Lu 3, Pangzhen 4, Meigu 3, Mirage 3 — and all 16 item names are consistent across the research. Exact chest coordinates are not preserved in the repo’s verified notes. This page therefore gives you the region, the gate, and the item, but not a fake “behind the third house” instruction. Sweep each region before its boss or hard gate, watch for the green glow, and use the keys and locked doors guide when a chest sits behind a door.
Normal chests — the non-glowing ones — hold materials and consumables, but their individual contents are unmapped. Do not treat a missing normal chest as a completion failure.
Hidden areas at a glance
| Area | How to reach it | Prerequisite | What is inside | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crimson Manor | Below Weeping Creek Valley’s Sha-Chi Tower; take the tower lift or open the puppet lock | Puppet’s Tongue (or the tower lift) | Eye [Yang], Hansui’s Frost Mask, Alloyed Scythe Blade, a Leng Tu Memory Flower petal | Before Mirage for true-ending cleanup |
| Phantom Illusionist Ruins | Four Guardians’ Mirror, frozen northwest Meigu Lake | All 4 Acolyte Masks; Dread Axe for the Long Pillar barrier | Long Pillar 4, the Eye statue, the Secrets at the Heart of the Lake finale | Before Mirage |
| Mountain of Imprisonment | Optional region north of Meigu Lake, opened by the repaired Illusory Pipa | Finish the Illusory Pipa chain and play it at the Spectral Gate | Yin Crystal Eye, Juggernaut, Seamless Death, Iron Butcher Mask | Before the Green Serpent House door |
| Broken Puppet Pit | Village of Lu, at the poison-misted entrance | All 6 Firefly Memory Flowers to clear the mist | Dusk, the Puppeteer; Puppeteer’s Bell; Illusory Pipa Head | Before leaving Lu / before Mu Xiaokui cleanup |
| Realm of Mirage / Inanis’ Dreamscape | Story route at the end of The Lake | All ten purple Mysteries progressed; finish The Lake | Violet Blossom (true-ending flag); the Inanis conversation | Story — cannot be skipped |
| Heart of the Lake | Meigu Lake ritual site, tied to the Secrets chain | Four masks, both Crystal Eyes, Phantom Illusionist Ruins cleared | Ritual site for Leng Tu’s vessel; the quest’s playable finale is in Phantom Illusionist Ruins | Before Mirage |
Crimson Manor
Crimson Manor is the game’s most misunderstood locked door. It sits below Weeping Creek Valley’s Sha-Chi Tower, and there is no Crimson Manor Key. The manor puppet lock opens with the Puppet’s Tongue, which comes from completing all three portals of The Herald’s Illusion: the Lu Puppet Testing Grounds after Yuzan, the Mandate Encampment final arena after Huangxing, and the Mountain of Imprisonment final arena.
Inside, descend the strings, ring the bell, and beat Puppet Scavenger and Hansui. The run yields Eye [Yang], Hansui’s Frost Mask, and the Alloyed Scythe Blade. The balcony also holds the Weeping Creek Valley petal of the Leng Tu Memory Flower set, which is easy to leave behind because most players reach the manor long after leaving the valley.
Prerequisite: Puppet’s Tongue, or the Sha-Chi Tower lift as the alternate route. Deadline: treat it as before the Green Serpent House door if you want the true ending; Eye [Yang] is one of the two eyes socketed in Phantom Illusionist Ruins.
Phantom Illusionist Ruins
The ruins are the reward for the four-mask collection. Use all four Acolyte Masks at the Four Guardians’ Mirror in frozen northwest Meigu Lake. The mirror shatters and opens the realm. Inside are Long Pillar 4 — gated by the masks and the Dread Axe — the statue where both Crystal Eyes are socketed, and the finale of Secrets at the Heart of the Lake.
Prerequisite: Yanru’s Blazing Mask (Lu terraces), Leiting’s Thunder Mask (Pangzhen southwest cliffside), Guhe’s Venom Mask (Meigu East Dock), and Hansui’s Frost Mask (Crimson Manor). Bring the Dread Axe for the pillar barrier. Reward: Chaos Iron Fragment from Long Pillar 4, plus Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake for finishing the Secrets chain. Deadline: before Mirage.
Mountain of Imprisonment
The Mountain is an optional region reached by repairing the Illusory Pipa and playing it at the Spectral Gate. It has no strictly mandatory boss for a Normal-ending run, which is exactly why completionists skip it by accident. The region holds the Yin Crystal Eye, the second half of the eye pair.
The chain is specific: defeat Huangxing in the Lady’s Shrine hall for the Flying Guillotine, then use the guillotine at the Lady’s statue. The boss alone does not hand over the eye. The same region also supplies Juggernaut from Bi Feng, Seamless Death from Jade-Face, the Iron Butcher Mask, the Missing Lift Crank from Kui Yanyan, and the Detached Cage Lever for Hero’s Lament.
Prerequisite: the Illusory Pipa chain, which runs through the six Firefly flowers and Dusk in the Village of Lu. Deadline: before the Green Serpent House door — sources place the Mountain’s shrine objectives on that timer.
Broken Puppet Pit
The Broken Puppet Pit is the Village of Lu’s optional boss room. Its entrance is blocked by poison mist until you collect all six Firefly Memory Flowers. Clearing the mist unlocks Dusk, the Puppeteer, who drops the Puppeteer’s Bell and the Illusory Pipa Head.
That head is not a side trinket: it is part of the Illusory Pipa chain that opens the Mountain of Imprisonment. Skip Dusk and you lose both the Puppeteer’s Bell and the route into the Mountain.
Prerequisite: all six Firefly flowers. Deadline: before leaving Lu for Pangzhen if you want a clean sweep; stricter sources place the ribbon and pit work before Mu Xiaokui.
Realm of Mirage / Inanis’ Dreamscape
The Realm of Mirage is the dream-realm attributed to Inanis, and the official store copy calls it Inanis’ Dreamscape. It is a story area, not an optional dungeon. You reach it at the end of The Lake, after the ten purple Mysteries are progressed.
The critical interaction is the conversation with Inanis. If your checklist is complete, she gives you the Violet Blossom — the true-ending flag — and tells you to follow your own heart. If anything is missing, she warns you instead. That warning is the last clean chance to back out and finish the purple content.
Prerequisite: the ten purple Mysteries and The Lake. Deadline: the Violet Blossom is checked before the Green Serpent House door, so treat that door as the real cutoff.
Heart of the Lake
The Heart of the Lake is the ritual site beneath Meigu Lake — the ceremony Leng Tu runs to build Meng Hua’s vessel. In guide terms it is the lore location behind Secrets at the Heart of the Lake, not a separate loot dungeon. The quest’s playable finale happens in Phantom Illusionist Ruins, where both Crystal Eyes are socketed and the ritual is destroyed.
That distinction matters for completion: do not wander the lake looking for a second dungeon. Clear the four masks, both eyes, and the ruins, and the Secrets chain resolves.
Prerequisite: four masks, both eyes, and the ruins cleared. Reward: the Secrets resolution and Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake; no separate Heart of the Lake chest is documented. Deadline: before the Green Serpent House door.
Chest and hidden-area gaps
- Exact coordinates for the 16 Lost Treasures are not in the verified repo notes. The regional split and item names are.
- Normal chest contents are unmapped. Only green-glowing chests count for Quick Hand’s Request.
- Crimson Manor has no dedicated key; the Puppet’s Tongue is the item. Any guide that lists a “Crimson Manor Key” is inventing one.
- The Mountain’s cutoff trigger at the Green Serpent House is flagged by sources but not fully documented. Finish the region before the door rather than testing it.
For the doors that guard these areas, see the keys and locked doors guide. For the masks and eyes themselves, see the collectibles checklist and the Acolyte Masks guide.
Sources & confidence
The 16-treasure regional split and item names come from Kungfupunk’s Lost Treasures data, cross-checked against PowerPyx’s collectibles guide. Hidden-area routes and rewards come from GameSpot’s Acolyte Masks guide, the PBZ Wiki’s Crystal Eyes page, and the region walkthroughs. The high-confidence facts are the counts, the masks, the eyes, and the two hard gates; the low-confidence facts are the exact chest coordinates and the precise Mountain cutoff trigger.
