Accessories are Phantom Blade Zero’s armour. Outfits are cosmetic, so every point of defence, every healing bonus, and every Dust-farming perk comes from the two — eventually six — trinkets you slot at a Bell. The game documents 66 accessories across three categories, and one accessory swap often matters more than another weapon level.
The launch ecosystem has not reproduced all 66 effects line by line, so this page separates verified effects from names and locations.
How slots, categories, and polish work
You begin with two accessory slots. Boundless Capacity expands the loadout to six slots, and no more than three accessories may come from any one category. The slot count and the per-category cap are the parts to plan around; the category labels themselves are not preserved in our research, so treat “offence / defence / utility” as a description rather than an in-game menu name.
There is a small inconsistency worth flagging: the ability is described as +1 accessory slot, while the end state is reported as six slots from a starting two. That implies several ranks or repeat purchases rather than one purchase. The repo does not preserve the rank count or per-rank price, so check the training screen before assuming a single buy unlocks all four extra slots. See best builds for where Boundless fits in a finished loadout.
Jewel in the Village of Lu unlocks polish at any Bell. Polish is irreversible — no Revert, no Dust refund. One documented data point puts a +2 polish at roughly 7,920 Dust plus a crystal, but that is a single figure, not a full price list. The practical rule: do not polish anything until you have used it through a full region and know it survives your build changes.
Accessory effects and roles verified in the repo
The table below includes every accessory whose effect or role is stated in our research or published guides. “Location not preserved” means the item is solid but our repo does not record a confirmed acquisition point.
| Accessory | Verified effect or role | Verified source or location | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ancient Armor Fragment | Up to 20% damage reduction at full HP | Location not preserved | High effect |
| Battleforged | After 10 seconds without taking damage, immune to the next hit | Location not preserved | High effect |
| Medicine Case | +20% medicine healing | Apprentice Healer Tale reward, Weeping Creek Valley; closes before Jing Ye | High |
| Token of Pursuit | +7% damage to Guard-Broken enemies | Location not preserved | High effect |
| Lingran’s Pendant | −15% Sha-Chi combo cost | One source places it in a chest at the very start of Weeping Creek Valley; treat the location as medium confidence | High effect / medium location |
| Shenji’s Ring | −20% block Sha-Chi cost | Location not preserved | High effect |
| Boulderguard | 15% damage reduction while not Guard-Broken | After Peng Meng, exhaust the Petrified Mandate Disciple at the Outpost, then inspect the grave near The Axemaster’s Holding Cell bell. Missable after Bai Chilian | High |
| Twin Fish Pendant | Damage bonus rises as your Sha-Chi falls: up to 20% at base, 30% at +1 | Red’s Memory Flower after sparing Red in Daughter of the Dark Sect; lost if you kill her at the Dovecote | High |
| Resonance Talisman | Parry-oriented accessory; exact modifier not reproduced in the repo | Bai Chilian drop, Threadbound Great Tree | High location / low effect |
| Reflex Device | +15% parry and Perfect Dodge window | Location not preserved | High effect |
| Treasure Basin | +10% Dust drops | Pre-order early access; also earnable in-game | High |
| Flameward | Cuts fire damage and Burn by 50% | Location not preserved; strongest documented pick against Blaze and Flame | High effect |
| Frostward | Elemental accessory used in the Wet/Frost build; exact effect and values not preserved | Location not preserved | Low |
| Thunderward | Elemental accessory used in the Wet/Frost build; exact effect and values not preserved | Location not preserved | Low |
Two entries deserve a note. Ancient Armor Fragment and Boulderguard look similar but behave differently: the Fragment wants you at full HP, while Boulderguard only checks whether you are Guard-Broken, making it more reliable against chip damage. Twin Fish Pendant rewards fighting at low Sha-Chi, so it belongs on an aggressive build that refills the gauge with swap attacks, not a beginner loadout.
Named accessories with locations but no verified effect
These are confirmed to exist and have a documented acquisition point. Their effects are not reproduced in the repo, so they are deliberately excluded from the effect table above.
| Accessory | Where it is documented |
|---|---|
| Jewel’s Knot | Village of Lu — given by Jewel at the start of the region |
| Shieldbreaker’s Talisman | Crimson Forest — collectible near the Memory Flower Left by Inanis |
| Cavalrybane (accessory, not the boss) | Crimson Forest — collectible trail |
| Preservation Jar | Crimson Forest — collectible trail |
| Silent Wrap | Honor Among Thieves reward; closes before Bai Chilian |
| Quick Hand Pendant | Crimson Forest — collectible trail |
| Remnant Spark Cage | Village of Lu — collectible near the end of the region |
That is roughly twenty named pieces of sixty-six. The rest are why this guide does not pretend to be a complete stat sheet.
What remains unverified
- The full 66-effect list. The count is medium confidence; roughly fifty effects have not been cross-checked line by line.
- Category names. The three-category structure and three-per-category cap are verified; the in-game labels are not.
- Polish costs and caps. Only a single +2 figure is documented. Do not budget a full polish plan from it.
- Resonance Talisman, Frostward, and Thunderward. Names and intended roles are solid, numbers are not. Drop rates are also unpublished; boss drops are first-kill guaranteed.
- Quest-only availability. The confirmed hard deadline here is Boulderguard before Bai Chilian; treat every regional quest reward as missable until proven otherwise.
If another guide gives you a clean percentage for every one of the 66, it is probably extrapolating. Cross-check the item in-game before you spend polish on it.
Best-in-slot by job
Boss fights
Start with Boulderguard and Ancient Armor Fragment, then add Battleforged if the boss has ten-second lulls. Against Blaze or Flame, replace the Fragment with Flameward; halving fire damage and Burn beats a conditional 20% reduction. Resonance Talisman suits parry players, but its modifier is unverified; Twin Fish Pendant is the damage pick for low-Sha-Chi play.
Exploration
Treasure Basin is the only verified Dust accessory and belongs in every sweeping loadout. Battleforged prevents the stray hit that ruins a platforming sequence, Reflex Device makes ambushes easier to parry, and Boulderguard is the safer general defensive pick because it does not depend on full HP.
Dust farming
There is exactly one verified farming accessory: Treasure Basin, at +10% Dust drops. Equip it before the Crimson Forest sweep (~11,500 Dust), the Weeping Creek Valley sweep (~3,452 Dust), or the Village of Lu Smuggler’s Tunnel pickup (2,048 Dust). No second Dust boost is confirmed, so fill the remaining slots with survivability and movement utility. See all weapons and locations for route context.
Survivability
The defensive core is Boulderguard + Ancient Armor Fragment + Medicine Case: Boulderguard covers the fight while you are not Guard-Broken, the Fragment covers the opening, and Medicine Case makes every charge 20% stronger. Battleforged is the fourth slot when you expect quiet phases; Reflex Device is better when your problem is timing. The beginner guide covers this layer in context.
A category-based checklist for the other accessories
Because the effects are not fully catalogued, collect by category of acquisition rather than by name:
- Boss drops. Every story boss drops something; first-kill drops are guaranteed. Clear the boss before leaving the region, because enemies do not respawn.
- Quest rewards. Finish Apprentice Healer (Medicine Case), Honor Among Thieves (Silent Wrap), and Daughter of the Dark Sect (Twin Fish Pendant) before their regional cutoffs. Boulderguard is a dialogue-and-grave pickup, not a Tale.
- Collectible trails. Sweep each region’s chests and corpse pickups before the boss. The Crimson Forest trail alone documents Shieldbreaker’s Talisman, Cavalrybane, Preservation Jar, and Quick Hand Pendant.
- Regional NPCs. Talk to Jewel in the Village of Lu for Jewel’s Knot, and exhaust NPC dialogue after major bosses — the Boulderguard chain is the warning case.
- Test before polishing. Equip one unknown accessory at a time, compare a familiar fight, and only then spend Dust. Polish is permanent.
- Keep a swap set. Build a boss set and a farming set at the Bell; six slots is less generous once elemental defence, healing, and Dust gain compete.
