Phantom Blade Zero’s November patch is version 1.0302256, published on S-GAME’s official site on November 3, 2026 and mirrored to Steam News on November 4. It is a quality-of-life and performance update: new audio sliders, a PC keybind, a shorter shader-compile path, a stack of fixes, and one targeted boss adjustment. There is no new region, weapon, boss, or ending branch in these notes.
The combat change: Hua’s grabs
The only named combat adjustment is to Hua, the Deadly Betrothed. Her grab attacks now occur less frequently on Wayfarer and Pathbreaker. Every other difficulty is unaffected — Hellwalker and 66 Days keep the launch-build frequency.
That distinction matters more than the wording suggests. The patch lowers how often the mix-up appears; it does not remove the grab, shorten its tell, or make it parryable. The red flash still means dodge, and the grey-screen finisher still ends the attempt if you misread it. On Wayfarer and Pathbreaker you get fewer repetitions of the same lesson; on Hellwalker and 66 Days the lesson is unchanged. Our Hua boss guide covers the tell and the punish window.
The notes also say S-GAME adjusted “the combat behavior of certain bosses and enemies” and “the functionality of certain environmental mechanisms” without naming them. Treat that as a catch-all: other encounters may feel different, but there is no official list to attribute the changes to.
PC: a shorter road to the first fight
The headline PC change is shader compilation. Ray-tracing shaders are no longer compiled by default at startup, which is where a large part of the launch build’s first-boot wait came from. The exact flow after updating:
- If Ray Tracing was disabled before the patch, the first launch after updating runs a one-time shader recompile. S-GAME describes it as short.
- If Ray Tracing was enabled before the patch, you can start playing without recompiling.
- If you enable Ray Tracing later, the required shaders compile separately on the next restart.
Two smaller PC fixes are worth knowing: Bluetooth-controller stutter is reduced, and NVIDIA Reflex now works when set to Auto with V-Sync enabled. The patch also says performance improved “in certain areas” — a developer claim, not a measured benchmark. Our PC performance guide keeps the settings recommendations separate from the patch notes.
New audio and control options
- Hit Sound Intensity and Hit Impact Sound Intensity are now separate audio sliders. They control how prominently landing hits and their impact layer sit in the mix.
- On PC, Interact / Talk can be remapped for both keyboard and controller. If the default interact prompt collides with a combat input, this is the fix.
The patch also updated weapon descriptions, some skill descriptions, and controller button icons. Those are text and UI corrections, not retroactive weapon buffs; the notes do not list any damage or scaling changes.
Bug fixes
S-GAME lists fixes for:
- Progression blockers under certain conditions.
- Environmental spots that could leave the player stuck.
- Cutscene and visual issues.
- Several combat-related issues.
- Incorrect character-hair rendering on certain AMD graphics cards with specific driver versions.
The notes do not name the affected quests, areas, or combat interactions. If you were blocked before the patch, update first and retry from the nearest Bell; do not assume a specific quest flag was the cause.
What the patch does not do
It does not add a region, boss, weapon, Phantom Edge, Tale, or ending condition. It does not rebalance boss health or player damage globally. It does not remove Hua’s grab on any difficulty. And it does not change the two ending flags or the points of no return.
The one practical warning is for mod users: S-GAME says some third-party mods are incompatible with this update and can cause problems. Remove mods if the game misbehaves after updating. The notes do not mention save-file incompatibility.
Version numbers and dates
The official changelog uses 1.0302256 and is dated November 3, 2026 on S-GAME’s site. The Steam announcement carrying the same notes is dated November 4. MP1ST reports the PS5 update as 1.302.289; that console string is third-party reporting, not the version S-GAME prints in the changelog. Treat the changelog content, not the number, as the source of truth.
Sources & confidence
The patch contents are high confidence: they come from S-GAME’s official patch notes, mirrored to Steam News. The only uncertain details are the platform version string (the PS5 number is reported by MP1ST) and which unnamed bosses or environmental mechanisms were adjusted — the official notes deliberately do not list them. Nothing in this article treats a community report as a documented change.
